Easy Home Based Business (or NOT)

So you’re looking for an easy home based business? Does the opportunity to work from home sound to good to be true? Well honestly that depends on YOU. There are several factors that come into play when starting a home based business, and your success (or lack of it) will be determined by these factors.

In my opinion there really is NO such thing as an easy home based business. This sounds odd coming from a man with a website named Easy Home Based Business. However, please allow me to explain. The main word to focus on here is “easy”.

We all know that anyone can start a home based business, especially with internet technology at your fingertips, but just how easy is “easy”. Like I mentioned earlier this will be determined by many factors. There are two primary assets that will decide for you just how easy this is or is not. TIME and MONEY. Those are your assets. You may have one and not the other or you may have both (if your lucky).

In my case I have time, so I spend a little everyday learning something that I need to know to be successful and then try to implement it into my strategy or goals. If you have money you can just hire out the dirty work and reap the benefits. Unfortunately I am unwilling to put myself into debt to take a chance so I teach myself the things I need to know.

One of the most important things that will need to be done is website design and construction. Websites come in a variety of forms whether they be static pages or blogs is really a matter of choice. The main objective to think about will be functionality. Ask yourself these types of questions:

  • What is my goal with this website? ex; to sell products, provide information.
  • What type of people are my main audience? ex; teenagers, moms, lawyers…
  • What functions does my site need? ex; membership or general user, shopping cart, user comments, sign up forms

These types of questions will determine your overall needs. They will also get you on track with design issues. Once you have the design and functionality questions answered that will determine your construction needs. If you don’t know anything about building websites then you have major hurdles to jump. Don’t get discouraged though as most of these hurdles can be removed completely with more knowledge.

Your next objective will be marketing. This will help to put the “easy” back into easy home based business. Marketing your website is easier than designing and building it. Marketing on the internet consists mostly of just getting your link in front of the right people. You will be utilizing a wide variety of methods to accomplish this.

Some of those methods are article marketing, email marketing, search engine optimization, social bookmarking, video marketing, and classified ads to name a few. All of these methods will help you run a successful internet business and you will certainly use many of them.

Your biggest obstacle will probably be “YOU”. Unless you have thousands of dollars to spend getting started you will probably not see any quick returns. Here is where you separate the pretenders from the actual businessmen and women. Most people will not take the time necessary to completely follow through with their “dream”. Just take it one step at a time and don’t quit after you experience some set backs.

Determination and knowledge will get you where you want to be. Sometimes it takes years to get there. Most people will work a physical job for 30 years before retiring. I suggest you keep your day job and work your internet business as a part time job until you are exceeding your day job income by at least 20% annually.

Thanx for your time and remember…Always strive to improve and success will follow
