What is Affiliate Marketing?
Affiliate marketing is a huge business on the internet. It is a cooperative effort between merchants and yourself. For many years now, affiliate marketing has proved to be a cost-efficient, measurable method of delivering long-term results. Every day, people get interested in affiliate marketing and want to make money utilizing this method. This is absolutely the fastest way to start earning money on the internet.
So to help you understand a little better just what affiliate marketing is let’s examine the term “affiliate marketing”. One of the meanings of the word affiliate is “to associate (oneself) as a subordinate, subsidiary, employee, or member”. That is what we are doing in this crazy business of affiliate marketing. We are endorsing someone else’s product or service as if it were our own. In effect telling one and all to “buy this because it is great”.
Now we examine the word “marketing“. In a nutshell marketing means “the commercial functions involved in transferring goods from producer to consumer”. This is where the rubber meets the road. On the internet everything is about marketing in some way. Basically it is just “getting the word out”. Advertise, advertise, then when you get done doing that, advertise some more. That’s really all I have time to say about marketing as this topic covers about a gazillion different methods.
So we have our terms straightened out. Affiliate marketing is (when you put it together) to associate yourself to a merchant for the purpose of profitable gain through marketing efforts. Why is this so great for the average guy? Because if your like me, you haven’t created any new innovative products this week…(month,year,LIFE). Hooray for affiliate marketing. I don’t have to create anything at all, I just need to market these products to people that are seeking them out.
Finding affiliate programs to join is also so easy your dog could do it (if he had thumbs). Almost every website that sells stuff has an affiliate program on today’s internet. Go to your favorite shopping site and look all over the home page and I’ll bet you find a link to join an affiliate program. A quick google search for the term -affiliate marketing programs- returned over 5.5 million results. Take your pick cause their are many, many more than that.
Affiliate marketing can generate a full-time income for the affiliate. But this is not an easy task to accomplish. The affiliate has the responsibility to stand for the merchandise their user base would be most interested in. For example, if the site has a user base of mainly stay-at-home mothers, then online job openings such as surveys would be a good match for them. This group would also appreciate direct links to children’s products and informational sites.
Affiliate marketing is a great situation for both the merchant and the affiliate. It is an easy and inexpensive way to start your internet marketing career, and you can be up and running within a few days.
