2 Reasons Why Blogs are Better

Blogs are better because I said so, so there! Well you may be wondering what they are supposed to be better than? My opinion is that blogs are better than any standard html site. You see, blogs are in fact very powerful software that also happen to be very user friendly. When I started out on this journey I used to slave away in front of my wysywig editor for hours building pages by hand. Pure torture if you ask me. Then I found WordPress…(angels singing in the background).

When I started my first blog I quickly found out that the resources available are countless. The overall functionality you can gain from a blog makes a html site just boring, tedious, and time consuming. With just a few clicks of your mouse you can add a whole new dimension to your blog like a shopping cart, fancy archive page, and related posts. I truly love that aspect of blogs and it truly makes it easy for newbies to get started with a professional website that they can easily manage.

There are many other advantages to having a blog but in this article I want to discuss two reasons why blogs are better, to me. The ability to change the way your site looks and the ability to add specific content in various places. Of course I am referring to Themes and Widgets. These two features alone make a blog priceless in my eyes. Changing your sites look and placing content in the right places can be the difference between success and failure as a webmaster.

Themes- Blog themes are like a blogs face. It is the way your blog looks, mostly. Themes always contain their own sets of functionality that will vary depending on the theme author, however I am only talking aesthetics or looks. A theme gives your website continuity…the same from page to page. This helps visitors stay on track while surfing your site. They will also haveĀ  very good navigation allowing for quick access to your content. A good theme will make your visitors take notice and if you have good content to match they will probably hit that bookmark button.

Widgets- I love widgets. Widgets are like little windows to specific content that you can place in a theme’s sidebar(s). You will be able to place things such as categories, recent posts, archives, calendar, favorite links… This list could go on forever. Basically they allow you to offer your visitors the functions and content they want most. You will be able to place them anywhere you want inside a widgetized area and move them for maximum visibility and use. With a drag and drop interface adding widgets can not get any easier.

So can you see now why blogs are better. You can change your sites look entirely throughout with just a click of the mouse, almost. You will also be able to add content to sidebars that will help your visitors use your site. These 2 reasons alone will make the newest of newbies look like a seasoned veteran.

Thanx and remember…Always strive to improve and success will follow
