As an seo guy I obsessively check my search engine rankings. Sometimes it even gets in the way of me getting my work done! I do not believe that I am alone in this matter. Of course most all of us use analytics either from Google or some other trusted site to tell us where our traffic comes from, but sometimes you want to know who else is around you. Getting a better understanding of where you are in the search results and what other sites surround your site can help you fine tune your internet marketing techniques.

So if I am losing valuable work time compulsively checking my rankings then surely I have found some really nice tools to help me achieve this task. Well I certainly have and I am going to share two of those tools with you today. Both of these tools will make checking your search engine rankings a breeze and hopefully get you back to work, you obsessive/compulsive rank checker!!! The first tool is hosted on a nice site and the second is actually a search engine you may not have heard of yet, so here goes.

If you visit Mike’s Marketing Tools you will find an excellent tool to check all the top search engines and directories for whatever search terms you are trying to rank for. I love this tool as I can check my rankings for all my top terms and see exactly where my site is in real time. This is a real time saver for people such as myself. This tool will automatically check Google, MSN, Yahoo, AllTheWeb, AOL, and AltaVista. It will also check the Yahoo Directory and Open Directory. The only thing you need to remember when using this tool is to turn OFF any popup blockers you may have on as it opens a new window to show your results. The second tool is a little known search engine that checks several search engines for anything you want. It works just like any other search engine except that it is searching other search engines for you. Again this is a big time saver. This engine is called Zuula and it will perform a simultaneous search for your terms on the following engines…Google, Yahoo, Live, Gigablast, Exalead, Alexa, Entireweb, Mahalo, Wikia, Visvo, and Mojeek. I have to admit that ranking on most of these engines does not really matter to me due to overall low traffic but hey, rankings are rankings. I was a little amazed at this easy to use tool when I first found out about it and now it is an integral part of my regular (obsessive) ranking checks.
