Blogs are becoming more popular everyday. This really does not surprise me at all. Blogs are very easy to use no matter what your experience level is. Blogs are definitely going to be here for the long haul and for that I say, hooray! If you can type then you can blog, it really is that simple. New bloggers will be coming online at a breakneck pace in the next few years which will only fuel the fire for even better blogging software and web designs.

The overall ease of starting a new blog is only defined by your personal experience level. Most people will get started by using sites like Myspace, Blogger, and WordPress. All three offer free blogs to anyone with an account and are all very popular online. Those of us with a little more experience and money can buy hosting and build our own blogs using free software like WordPress or Moveable Type.

Of course a free blog is still a blog, but they are limited to certain restrictions by the sites that host them. In my opinion there is nothing more powerful than a self hosted WordPress blog. The freedom you get with having total control over your sites design and content can not be matched by any free blog on the internet today. So why are blogs so popular…

Mostly because they are like little diaries into the authors mind and they beg you to leave your thoughts on the current subject at hand. People like to interact with each other and voice their opinions on things and blogs allow that to happen. This brings on more of a conversation style to the article and simply makes it more interesting to the reader. People will be more likely to bookmark a blog and return to it than they will a standard static website because of this.

Search engines love blogs almost as much as I do. The reason they love them so much is because blogs get updated with new content on a more regular basis than other sites. Since having readily available content is their business then blogs are hot to them. You can find blogs in every niche these days and some of them are doing very well at dominating the search results.

Search engines will visit blogs on a daily basis to see if new content has been added or if content has been modified. Since people can comment on blog topics this makes the content more user friendly and that is exactly what search engines want. If you build it they will come…well you will have to do more than build it but I guarantee you, they will come. Adding content on a steady basis is the fastest way to the top of the search results.

Having the ability to write about anything you want and sharing it with the world has never been easier than it is today. You can blog about absolutely anything like fishing, hunting, baking, dogs, electronics…you get the picture. Just pick a topic your familiar with, like your favorite hobby, and start blogging today. You just never know…you may be the next big thing in your niche!!!
