The Info-Library of Google
In my journey as an amateur internet marketer I have learned many things that are useful and provide the potential for profit. The beautiful part of it is that most of this knowledge has been gained by doing simple searches on Google. I believe that there is more information stored on Google servers than anywhere else in the world. I also think that it is absolutely the biggest ‘library‘ of information that has ever been compiled in the history of man. It is only getting bigger and bigger as time goes on.
So what does this mean to the average webmaster? To me it is extremely obvious and I have been saying it for awhile… Google loves fresh and unique content. I see and hear people worrying about pagerank like it will bring instant fortune. Listen up… PAGERANK DOES NOT EQUAL DOLLARS OR VISITORS. While you may be inclined to think that having a high pagerank will mean you will have high search engine rankings, this is not always true. Google works hard to separate the truth from fiction, even concerning pagerank.
While pagerank is strictly a Google based algorithm, it is not flawless and they know it. Google will continue to work on this program to start to weed out the imitators. If you are one of those guys who continue to build links for the sole purpose of getting a higher pagerank you should rethink your position. At some point in the near future Google will figure it out and suddenly you will lose your pagerank. If that pagerank has helped to push your site higher in the serps then you will lose that too!
For those of us out there that truly build our sites and content for the people that visit our site, then none of this matters. If you are new to marketing and websites then this article is perfect for you because of the hype surrounding pagerank and its ‘importance’. Let me give the newbie a piece of advice that will always stand the test of time and algorithms.
Add to the library! Add to the library as often as you can. If this is something you can do on a daily basis then you will enjoy the best of what Google has to offer. However, you do not have to do this daily, but you do need to be in it for the long haul. Do not expect big things fast when it comes to search engines. They have learned the hard way that people will abuse the systems they put in place. Basically, YOU HAVE TO EARN IT.
I know, nobody wants to actually work for their supper anymore. Just show me the shortcuts so I can beat the search engines at their own game, right. To each their own, I say, but I come from a different mindset. I learned a long time ago to do things the right way and do not be afraid of a little hard work. The real rewards come to those that earn it.
So if your new or not, here is my advice to you… build your site for your visitors and learn to do things the right way and after all the pretenders are trying to figure out new ways to trick the search engines you and I will still be at the top where we belong!
Thanx and remember…Always strive to improve and success will follow
