3 Considerations for New Affiliate Marketers
I know…you have already heard all about it. You want to start making money on the internet and everybody says the same thing…Affiliate Marketing is what you want. So why do you think you keep hearing about affiliate marketing? Simply put, it is the easiest and fastest way to put some cash in your pocket.
There are some things you should be aware of before jumping into the first affiliate program you find. You probably already know that almost all sites that sell something have an affiliate program, but what makes one better than the other? The great thing about the internet is the ability to compare several affiliate programs in a short period of time. Here are 3 considerations for new affiliate marketers.
The first thing you should look at is the affiliate payout. This means how much money you will make for each sale. This is usually a percentage of the overall purchase price but sometimes it is a flat rate. So find a product you want to promote then look for competing products and scan the affiliate pay scale for each. I suggest choosing the top four or five for these comparisons.
So you have your top five as far as the affiliate commission goes. Next we want to look at the payout schedule. Most good programs pay once per month either at the beginning or middle of the month. This is very common and acceptable for affiliate commission checks. Some affiliate programs will pay instantly but most of those are run by individuals selling downloadable or digital products.
Here is one of the most important things a new affiliate marketer needs to pay close attention to. The MINIMUM PAYOUT. This bit of information is something most new affiliate marketers miss. Most affiliate programs have a minimum amount of money earned before they will issue you a check.
This goes something like this…Your affiliate payout is $30 per sale that pays out once per month on the 15th. So you get started and make three sales in your first month which equals $90 dollars. Now your kind of excited and your waiting on your check which should arrive around the 20th of the month. The 20th comes and goes as does 21, 22, 23 etc. So what happened? Your affiliate program has a minimum payout of $100 meaning that you have to earn 100 dollars in commissions before they will issue you a check…bummer dude.
The last thing we will look at in this article is affiliate tools. We want banners and images and pre-written emails and tutorials. We need to learn how best to market the product which is why we want tutorials. Every product presents challenges that are unique in terms of marketing and the provider of that product should have the best information available. We want banners and images for our websites and Myspace pages and all the things in between. Of course we want emails for emailing.
Now dig through that info and compare, compare, compare. Then make a decision based on what works best for you. To recap, you want to look for these things when starting out in affiliate marketing. Compare the payout per sale, the minimum payout before a check is issued, and the availability of tools and training.
Thanx and remember…Always strive to improve and success will follow
