Save Patriotism

In today’s trying times we, as Americans, need to stick together. Our financial future is open for discussion and who knows when our troops will be home. Times like these can make you wonder if America is losing ground. Well folks let me tell you that America is alive and kicking you just need to know where to look.

Is it in New York or maybe L.A.? Maybe it’s in New Orleans or Washington D.C.? Honestly it is in all of those places but here is a spot you probably (most assuredly) never heard of…Stanford Illinois.  Stanford is a small town nestled comfortably in the corn fields between Bloomington and Peoria. What makes Stanford so great you ask? Let me shed a little light on this village…

The Village of Stanford has become known for the magnificent display of fireworks at its summer festival, the “Good Old Days,” which takes place, annually, on the third weekend of July. They
really go all out and have an amazing show. Historically, Stanford has had significant summer activities. This little town likes to take care of it’s people, but they need our help.

You see, Stanford raises the money for this awesome fireworks spectacle by having community fundraisers. The year preceding each “Good Old Days” is filled with activities designed to earn the funds needed by this non-profit organization to support the festival and its spectacular fireworks display. These activities include a pancake/sausage breakfast on the second Sunday of each month, serving from seven o’clock to ten o’clock a.m. at the Stanford Township Hall. The public is welcome.

Unfortunately with our economy in it’s current state it is becoming more difficult each year to raise enough money for the event. This really saddens me because this is our heartland. This festival helps remind our farmers, factory workers, and all American homemakers why we are PROUD TO BE
AMERICAN.

So I am begging and pleading with you AMERICA, HELP SAVE PATRIOTISM!!! If you could find it in your heart to donate a small token to this non-profit organization to help keep this festival and
seriously awesome fireworks show going I will be very, very grateful.
